Not sure if this is considered a bug, but I'm assuming all creatures have original sprites and that this was just images getting mixed up over long nights of coding.
I noticed that the "An old-looking egg, greenish with age" and "A reddish egg that seems restless and jumpy" are both dragcave-style eggs, if not the neglected and magi eggs themselves.

All sprites here are originals to MM.
They more than likely look like DC eggs due to the lack of designs on them since they are a plain egg.
The Magi egg of DC even before the revamp of their colors, was a lot brighter orange that the "A reddish egg that seems restless and jumpy" egg, which is more a shade between red and orange. The Khaki green suits the creature it will turn into.
As far as I am aware, 95% of the sprites were sprited backwards. Adults first, starting stage last. The starting stage made to match the adult and in-between stages.

=F Just watch out for using that shape for eggs... At some point, at least one representative of the Distinguished Competition will raise a fuss about it.

No. I overlayed the images. That orange egg and magi dragon egg are the same. Same size, border and shading, pixel by pixel. Only the color is different.
Can't be a coincidence. Whoever made it likely used a dragon cave sprite as a base.

^^ This. The spriter who has created these eggs has been contacted and we are waiting for a reply; but for now, the eggs have been replaced by temporary sprites. |
