Ok, for those that don't want to read everything, here is the summary:
Don't, don't, don't, do not, don't, especially DON'T!!!!
But you want to act appropriately on the forums and not have all the "Don't" restrictions, we would recommend you read the following.
OverviewI am not big on rules, I believe that with common courtesy, some respect, and a little self restraint, then there should be no need for rules. The problem with that concept, is that people are emotional beings, and sometimes emotions and reactions, govern how the relate to others, and in those cases, sometimes boundaries need to be set.
So, like most public places, lets set a few guidelines and boundaries, not to control how you act and behave, but to protect you from the actions and behaviour of others.
CourtesyCourtesy and respect go a long way. Takes a life time to grow, and only a moment to shatter. Regardless of personal differences, discussions, rather than accusations can make for sorting out an issue without people getting upset. It takes a bigger person to turn the other cheek, rather than to lash back in return. People will get upset, people will feel they have been wronged, but even if there cannot be a solution to the problem, agreeing to disagree, or mutually avoiding confrontation with someone works just as well.
Constructive CriticismConstructive criticism is considered the best way to give negative advice or responses. Unfortunately, different people tend to be more sensitive than others, and tend to get a little more upset. If you feel that someone is dumping on you. Try to see it objectively. Are they attacking you, or your idea. Is the criticism intended to just belittle you, or are they offering advice on how you may improve something. Don't just jump to the conclusion that a negative comment is a personal attack, sometimes someone may actually like your idea, and want to see it grow, and improve, and be a winner.
Age RestrictionsAre you a parent, or getting the the age where it could happen? Then think about what you are typing. Would you want your child to see or read what you have been typing? Are you a kid, or just leaving that age group? Again, think about what you are typing. Would your parents ground you, wash your mouth out with soap, or sit you down and discuss how inappropriate you were? If conversations are kept civil, and on a level that regardless of age, gender, or social status, could never be considered inappropriate, we are off to a good start. We understand emotions, we understand tempers. Outbursts, reactions, and other spur of the moment posts can usually be overlooked. Continually posting inappropriate material may result in us having to take action to protect our patrons.
Forum ContentNaturally, as every other site tells you, we cannot be held responsible for peoples posts, and the views, ideas, and personal opinions of the users are not necessarily those shared by the team at Mythical Moments. But wow, that doesn't really tell you what you can and can't do. We believe in having fun, but to also have limitations. Have fun, play nice, and enjoy the game, but make sure what you post is appropriate. You never know who will be upset by something. In general, things like porn, viruses, and copyrighted material should be kept to yourself.
Sticky MessagesWell, they are usually the messages that stay at the top of a forum section, regardless of how many posts appear in the section. These stickies are intended to guide you with your posting, and to make sure that all important information is provided.
SearchSearch is your best friend. No post will be deleted. Some posts due to their offensive nature maybe archived in a censored section, but otherwise, all information should be retained on the forum in some manner. If you do a search, and you can't find what you wanted to know, chances are it hasn't been asked. Do a search and see what kind of results you can come up with.
SpamUnfortunately we are not talking about the left over processed meat that is nowhere near as good as real meat. We are talking about posts. Spam is generally considered to be off-topic postings, or posts that give no value to the conversation at hand. We view spam as one of those things that happen. Conversations tend to wander, to vary, so we request you treat the topics like a road. Keep it going in the same direction, and you can wander and drift about. We don't want it going the wrong way, or to a different destination, but diversity can sometimes be good.
Your creaturesWe would prefer that your didn't post your creatures on these forums. No because we believe that it is somehow holier than you post them on someone elses forums, it is because we believe that if you just rely on these forums to help you grow your creature, then the point of the game will be lost. What's the point? To go out and find some views your your creatures. Fansites that will crop up from time to time are what we recommend, due to the fact that some places don't like you creating a mess with your creatures. But don't be scare, go on, find someone safe and secure to post your creatures. You never know, you might make a friend.
Staff DecisionsNaturally the staff are human, and sometimes they may make a questionable decision. Talk to them about it. Humans can talk. If you feel that the staff member is being unfair, and that they haven't addressed your concerns especially after you have attempted to discuss it with them, then move up the hierarchy. The hierarchy is as follows:
- Admin
- Global Moderator
- Moderator
Start with your moderator, then move to your Global Moderator, and then finally to your admin. If you try just jumping to the top thinking that will get your situation resolved faster, I hate to inform you, but, those concerns, requests, or other situations will summarily be disregarded. There is a hierarchy for a reason, please follow it.
Staff decision won't always be the right decision, but we do try to make the right decision for everyone involved. As stated the decision of the moderator maybe discussed privately. Continual circumvention of a moderators decision will be have to be addressed and action may need to be taken to protect our forums and our patrons.
This hierarchy also applies to issues with the game. If there is a problem in the game, then post it in the Bug Reports section. If you feel that your issue hasn't been addressed contact your Moderator, then Global Moderator, then an Admin last of all. The Admins will be notified of a problem or will see the thread themselves.
The hierarchy is for game, forum, or any other issue in regards to Mythical Moments. When the need arises, the game and forum hierarchy might separate, but for now, for all contact with staff, please follow the hierarchy.
